Are you so committed to improving yourself that you would travel from one side of the country to the other just to register for a course, despite having the option to do it over the internet or by phone? One of Oxbridge Academy’s new students, 27-year-old Adrien Kilinda, made the 1500 km journey from Johannesburg to Stellenbosch to do just this.  We managed to chat with him on his brief visit.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

I was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but after school there were not many opportunities there to further my education. I made the difficult decision to leave my parents and extended family to move to South Africa, as I was determined to get a qualification.

What made you decide to take the long journey to Stellenbosch?

I was studying a motor mechanic course at a college in Johannesburg, but they were closed down. I found Oxbridge Academy on the internet and saw that they have a good name, and that they offered the distance learning courses I want to study. I made a decision that I wanted to visit the college to register myself and find out more about the place I will be studying with.

What do you want to achieve through Oxbridge Academy?

My goal is to complete the N1, N2 and N3 Motor Mechanic qualifications. I didn’t have the opportunity to finish these at my previous college. I love working with my hands and enjoy fixing things, so this would be a perfect career for me.

What have been your impressions of the college so far?

From the very first phone call I made, everyone has been extremely helpful in assisting me to register. They have managed to make my registration process quick and easy. Everyone is very professional, friendly and helpful, and I can see that the college is properly run. I am excited to begin my courses.

A warm welcome to the Oxbridge Academy family, Adrien!

You don’t have to travel as far as Adrien did to register, but you can start your own journey to success with a distance learning course from Oxbridge Academy. To find out more, contact us by clicking here.
