One of the biggest advantages of distance learning is that you can study in your own time wherever you want. But sometimes, you may get the feeling that you’re all alone when studying your course. You don’t have to feel like this, as a reputable distance learning college will offer you all the support and guidance you need.

We sat down with Oxbridge Academy’s Academic Student Support department, to discuss how their team – along with expert tutors – provides free assistance to Oxbridge Academy students throughout their distance learning journeys.

What is the importance of student support during distance learning?

Students aren’t able to ask questions in a classroom, so they need to be supported in other ways. Our department fills this gap and allows students to raise any concerns they have, and gives them access to tutors and other resources they need for their studies. We have tutors for every course category that Oxbridge Academy offers. Tutors are especially important for more technical courses such as engineering or IT.

What do students do if they need guidance or have questions about their courses?

Students have a number of ways to get hold of us if they have any questions. They can send emails with general or administrative queries to support@oxbridgeacademy.edu.za, and a Student Support Representative will respond within 48 hours. If students have questions specific to their coursework (e.g. in relation to the content of their study material and assignments), they can email assessor@oxbridgeacademy.edu.za to enlist the help of an expert tutor. The tutor will then provide feedback within 48 hours. We are also available on Facebook and on our phone lines to answer any general questions or to refer students to the correct people. And, last but not least, we have a support team which deals with enquiries on our WhatsApp line –  063 951 8200.

What questions can students ask?

Students can ask about basically anything that is related to their studies. It doesn’t necessarily have to be about the coursework or study material – they can also ask for basic career advice and studying tips. Usually our Student Support Representatives are able to answer these questions, although the tutors are available if we can’t.

Do the students appreciate the support you provide?

We have received very positive feedback from our students. They really appreciate having that support there when needed. I think it’s extremely comforting to them to know that they don’t have to tackle their studies alone.
